Creativity is my passion and makes my life fun and colourful, hopefully it can brighten yours too!
Reared on the Dublin Mountains in a big family of eight children, I have been drawing, painting and creating with various crafts since the age of 12. At school I was very lucky to have a teacher who taught me drawing, singing, knitting and sewing, all of which I continue to do today.
I was accepted into the Galway College of art when I was 17 but unfortunately could not go, so instead I did a secretarial course and worked for various businesses as a PA for many years. During this time I continued to draw and paint and I did lots of creative courses at night time. At 28 I decided to pursue my dreams and go to Art college and so I did a foundation course first and decided to do Graphic Design in Dun Laoghaire College of Art, Design and Technology (DLIADT) now IADT! I loved college and I went on to get my diploma in ‘Design Communications’ and then a Degree in ‘Production Design’, which is set design for film, theatre and TV.
I did business courses and set up ‘Nua Arts and Crafts’ in 2005 and I use my versatile skills to do various crafts to produces a wide variety of products.
I continually develop new products and learn new crafts to make my work more interesting, sometimes merging lots of mediums together. Creativity is my passion and makes my life fun and colourful and I hope this in turn gives my customers the same when they receive one of my pieces
I am a farmer’s wife and we live in a beautiful part of Co. Wicklow (known as the garden of Ireland) and my surroundings provide me with great inspiration. We have cattle, sheep, geese, hens, goats and ‘Harry’ the rabbit and lots of dogs, ‘Jordas’ my black labrador is my constant companion in my studio, so I am constantly provided with material for creative use.
I am also a foster mother so the kids in my care get to enjoy arts and crafts too!
I welcome you to my site and I hope you enjoy my work. Thank you for your time!
Kind regards,
